| Possibly my favorite is hiking. It is so cool out today that I'm getting really excited that it will be cool enough to start hiking again especially since other people will actually want to go. I love bike riding as well. I saw so many people biking today with this lovely weather. I'm wondering how many of them bike every day regardless of the weather and how many of them are just biking because it's such a nice day. Horseback riding is quite fun - though I don't do it as often as I'd like. I went earlier this year but I need to ride more to be more comfortable I think. I love star gazing at night or looking and the moon and such. And walking and looking at plants, animals, and flowers is so fun (very simiar to hiking). Practicing photography outside is wonderful. I really really enjoy rollerblading but unfortunatly I don't have any rollerblades right now. Oh exploring is also a fun thing to do. Often with a car. Geocashing is pretty exciting. Adventures in general. Standing in the rain of course. That's all I can think of at the moment. =) I should really spend more time outside. | |

| One of the best places to star gaze is up in the mountains. one night me and 2 other girls decided to stay up all night in the mountains waiting for a meteor shower. ^_^ I always love seeing shooting stars randomly like that. When I was young in the summertime me and my friend used to sleep out under the stars all the time. It's rarely ever cloudy here at night except in winter. It's pretty nice for star gazing. Miss Spaulding have you ever used a telescope to stargaze or look at the moon or a planet? If not I recommend it. =) Looking at the sky especially at night just makes me so happy. One reason I could never enjoy living in a city; because too might light pollution.
Speaking of fall I'm really excited for going to the apple orchards in the mountains and getting apples. =)

| That reminds me of when I lived in Maine. Occasionally, I'd drive off into the middle of nowhere, sit on the hood of my car and watch the stars for hours. I had an astronomy program on my Palm (remember those?) and a decent pair of binoculars, but nothing fancy. Maybe I'll get a powerful telescope one of these days, but I mostly just look at the sky unassisted.
One night while stargazing, a police officer pulled over, pointed his flashlight at me, and asked what I was doing. Although my story added up, and he didn't object to my being there, that temporarily put an end to my solitary countryside stargazing excursions. Then around 2006 or so, I discovered a program called Stellarium that let me see stars that weren't necessarily visible due to ambient light and whatnot. It also provided detailed information about the stars, galaxies, and various nebulae. With the additional information at my disposal, I started giving basic star tours to friends and family. These days, I use an app called Night Sky 2. What's cool about it is that it works with my iPhone's GPS, so I don't even have to be outside to have an idea of where the stars and planets are at any given time. That, and now I know where satellites are. A surprisingly high number of satellites, in fact, but kind of cool to know nonetheless.
As far as other outdoor activities, I like to bicycle, sail, cross-country ski, walk, and hike. Although I also roller blade and occasionally skate when the opportunity presents itself. Unfortunately, there are too many hills and cars around here for rollerblading, and I'd basically have to go to an ice rink to skate. I'd probably be more into horseback riding if I had access to a horse. It's fun, but the last time I rode was at summer camp when I was a kid.

Yeah, it looks like all of us have similar interests, so that would be a fun idea! As for myself, I enjoy most outdoor activities.
-Hiking -Camping -Canoeing -Fishing -Biking -Walking -Swimming -Skiing -Sledding -Star gazing -Gardening -Playing outdoor games with my siblings -Building things (like brush or snow forts, or anything like that). -Exploring forests: I mostly look for rocks, mushrooms, plants/trees, berries, mammals, birds, bugs, amphibians, and reptilians. I like to dig around an old farmstead by our place, and I have found a few cool things. I think I have come by every mammal in our state, as well as our neighboring state (except for bigfoot ).Exploring has to be one of my favorite outdoor activities of all. I'd like to start a journal and write down all the stuff I come by. I began collecting different plants and pressing them in books earlier this summer, but I didn't get far on that sadly.
Regretfully, I have hardly done any of these things this year; I hope to do more in the near future though! I used to be extremely active, and almost constantly outside with every chance I could get; maybe getting a computer and going to college wasn't the best idea!
