| I've been using vinegar to do everything ever since I found out it kills fleas. Are there any home remedies you use for anything? I also heard of using white vinegar for acne and baking soda and lemon juice as a tooth whitener. |

| One thing to be aware of is lemon juice is quite acidic and will wear away enamel. So I wouldn't use it on teeth. Unless you want fake teeth. I know someone who loves eating lemons and he has a few fake teeth now though there were other factors such as smoking contributing to that. Vinegar is also good for cleaning. Which you've probably already discovered. I don't know if it would work but it seems like lemon juice might also work pretty well for cleaning; except it has natural sugars so might leave stuff sticky. I need to learn more uses for lemon juice because we always have way too many lemons. We've used lemon juice as fertilizer a few times. | |

| I use baking soda and white vinegar in my laundry. Baking soda helps clean and softens the water ph Vinegar helps kill smells and softens. Also helps protect darks and colors from fading.
I use Hydrogen peroxide as a pre brush mouth wash.
Scrubbing bubbles bathroom spray as an engine cleaner, works wonders.
Oat flour (oatmeal ground up like flour) works good for and after shaving.

Lol. This made me think of my days working as a page in the Florida Senate. Every day you'd hear over the intercom..."Quorum call, quorum call. All senators indicate your presence, all senators indicate your presence. Quorum call, quorum call. All senators indicate your presence." Ooh, happy days.
I agree about using vinegar. I often use vinegar myself, especially since I've become very sensitive to regular cleaning products that are nothing but chemicals. Bleach and anything that's like 'scrubbing bubbles' spray are the worst. I never use it anymore.
My sister told me about how she made her own 'all purpose' cleaning spray. I should get the remedy from her and post it here for anyone interested. I think it was like water, some lemon juice, a few drops of essential oil (can't remember what kind - spearmint maybe?)...and something else. Anyway, I was with her when she used it and it smelled so good! It was so clean and refreshing smelling, so much better than anything from the store.
I, too, will use baking soda on my teeth as well for whitening. It really is the best way to naturally whiten your teeth.

I suppose I will have to clean your engine bay then if you ever plan on showing it off huh? Scrubbing bubbles only use IMO in on engine cleaning, degreaseers and other cleaners for such purposes I have used had little to no effect. Those bubbles though made it all shiny and oil/grease free.

| I only clean using vinegar, baking soda, dish soap,h. peroxide, salt, and hot water and sometimes lemon. for everything. I make my own all purpose cleaners and put them in spray bottles. It's the best stuff and smells so clean. | |

They only recommend you do it once a week or less for that very reason :O - Toro wrote:

I had tried hydrogen peroxide that was already in a mouthwash before and it was yucky lol xD That was three years ago however, maybe my tastebuds have changed a bit so I can give it another try? - Miss Spaulding wrote:

Get it! Get it! I've never heard of essential oil however. It sounds like some mystical ingredient you get from doing a special quest from like an RPG game hahahaha! - mina wrote:

| Salt is a mild abrasive and will also wonderfully absorbs liquids. So, if you accidently drop a raw egg on the floor pour salt on it and let it sit. Or if you have an overflow of something gooey in the oven like pie filling; just pour salt on it when the oven cools and the salt will absorb it and become hard and crispy and lift out with a spatula. I use salt to help clean anything that needs scrubbing like wood utensils and cutting boards. Only use it on things that will not show scratches.
Here is my cleaning solution. I put it in spray bottles in all the bathrooms and in the kitchen: 1 tsp baking soda, 2 tsps vinegar or lemon juice, 1/4 tsp dish soap, 2 cups hot water.

| Hey mina, I tried the mixture and it was great! I loved the light scent it had. Everything I used it to clean with felt... clean lol. I had added a few drops of lemon extract for a lemon scent (I didn't have any real lemons). I don't think you could smell the lemons that much though but I will definitively be using this mixture again! Thankssssss Miss Spaulding: I started using baking soda on my teeth to whiten it and I'm impressed by the results. I tried everything to get my teeth to whiten and it would lighten it a few shades but that's it. The baking soda is the best though. Toro: I'm washing clothes right now so I will throw in some baking soda in the loads. I don't know if my mom will let me add vinegar however because she dislikes vinegar. I'm trying the oatmeal thing for acne so I will let you guys know if it works if anyone is interested. |

I can't stand the smell of vinegar, but after its been through the wash cycle you can't smell it (at least I can't) It makes nice work of eliminating bad smells and allow for the good smells to be soaked in of the soap and fabric softener. Another thing vinegar works good for is a glass/mirror cleaner while diluted with water. (Even on a car) - RaiyuuDarling wrote:

Nah, its horrible tasting.... that's why I use it as a pre brush rinse. It foams up kills the germs and makes your mouth feel nasty, it tastes horrible, but the more often you do it (every time you brush) it gets less and less.... not sure if its cause there are less germs or you just get used to it. Using it before brushing makes the mouth feel nasty, but after brushing all that "gunk" out then using a mouthwash (one without alcohol that wont dry the mouth) it feels MUCH cleaner than without the peroxide. I know its effective though, the first time I used it I followed my normal brush rinse before bed. Using peroxide, I woke up the next morning without "morning breath". Peroxide is also good for cleaning your ears. Lay your head on its side on a towel, dump about a cap full in your ear and.... survive the "tickles" of the bubbles. (The bubbles become less with frequent use.) Tilt your head over to let it drain out into a towel, then do the other side.

Also. My hair smells like salad dressing. Not sure that this is a bad thing. Well, we know how Sharons hair will look soon..... She will be bald like me.... We ALL know she is a vegisaur and vegisaurs can't resist the smell of salad or salad dressing..... its like it's their.... tacos or something. Personally I don't get it, but hey, it gives me an excuse to eat more Chikin and more cow. Thus taking up their slack so that eatable animals don't take over this planet. They shall pick up my slack in the lack of veggie culling. Everyone is happy..... but Sharon will eat her hair.

| vodka and black pepper. if you are very sick rub it on your chest and put a paper towel and sleep with it over night.
Iodine. Use a cotton ball and make lines on your back (if you get back pain). Put paper towel again and just leave it on, it will help with your back or any other muscle pain.
onions and honey. Let it sit over night for the honey to break down the onions and in the morning drink a tablespoon or two of the juice at least three times a day for sore throat.
put garlic in olive oil and let it sit inside for at least a week. you can even leave it long in a bottle. then put one or two drops of it in your nose. It will burn like hell and you will hate me for it, but it will help A LOT!

| I have a lot of home remedies I suppose. I can't think of all of them though.
I sometimes use baking soda for my teeth. I haven't as much lately, but it works well to clear up plaque buildup. I won't use most toothpastes from stores, because I don't trust the ingredients, although I do buy an all natural one I get at a natural foods co-op. I also drink lots of fresh goats milk, so that is supposed to be good for teeth too! I haven't yet had a cavity in my life, so I think something is working.
Lavender essential oil, mixed with olive oil and fresh aloe vera is wonderful to apply to fresh burns on skin.
I make my own skin moisturizer with pure coconut oil and some other ingredients (the coconut oil is usually hardened at our temperatures here, 50-70 F). I cream it with pure aloe vera gel, then mix different essential oils for scent. I also add a dab of olive oil. After it is all mixed, it almost looks just like lotions that you would buy from a store, and it works splendidly too! It is 100% natural, and it is one of the few oils that doesn't cause me acne outbreaks.
For cleaning harder surfaces with buildup, like sinks, pans, and so forth. Baking soda works great!
