I know someone who made a summer bucket list with her son while he's out of school.
One of the things on the list was "no rules day".
Myself I generally try to make some goals every year and complete them; sometimes things I know I will probably complete; some that I know I can complete; and some that I hope I can complete. Some of them being ongoing goals.
A few I did get to do this year: fly on a plane, road trip; long bike rides; go to another country; go horseback ridding. But I have a long list.. some of them I know won't happen now because you just can't predict the future; some of them I will continue to work on.
Reading my bible more and having set aside specific prayer time.
One year I had a ton of goals like reading tons of books - and I used my time wisely and got so much done that year. Getting an A on a midterm a class where I failed every other time I took a midterm with that teacher was one of the big accomplishments I made that year. I just prioritized things and gave myself rewards for completing my goals that year.
(got a 4.0 at the end of that year  )
It hasn't worked as well since though. ^_^
