The devil is working overtime right now to get people caught up in sin.  He is using these women you probably admire to get you to doubt yourself.  In today's world, it is very difficult to find someone who intends on staying pure until marriage or finding someone who doesn't think you're a total loony for wanting to wait.  It's the whole "why buy the milk when you can get the cow for free" mentality.  That's how the world is set up.  Fulfill your pleasures, do as you want, etc.

You're not doing it wrong because you're waiting to find the right guy.  I understand the desire to be married and wonder if you should give in and do as the Romans do.  We're a weird breed according to the world.  It will never be easy, but do it God's way.  God's way is the opposite way. It causes friction with everything and everyone else.  If you turn around and change your lifestyle to fit the world, then you'll end up more lonely than you were before and even worse, probably used and dirty for what you've done.

People like to think that living together is a "trial" of what marriage is like, except the fact that it's not like marriage at all.  There's no commitment.  There's no bond to hold things together when times get rough.

If something goes wrong, you just give up and say, well I guess it didn't work out.  If you're going to do that while "living together" why would it change when you're married?

"Oh it'll change after we're married" said most of the single people.  Yeah right.

Aside from the moral and spiritual consequences (which are big) living together has been shown to increase chances of divorce by a crazy amount.

So not only is it against what God says we should do, it's also just flat out stupid.  But the world will always follow foolishness because it thinks that it can live life any way that it wants to without God.

But eventually that catches up with them.

My cousin is having some serious issues right now because of living together with his girlfriend.  His girlfriend is now having a baby in December, they are struggling badly financially, and the only reason they are somewhat surviving is because my family is reaching out to them.  Even with my family giving them lots of grace, his life is now forever changed because of choices he made, one of them being living together with his girlfriend. Actions have consequences, and people don't look at the future and what happens.  Living together may not have consequences "right now" but it will.

Evil will become good, and good will become evil.

I feel sorry for these people, because I know they're walking the road of destruction, and they think it's the best way to live life.  Heartache and pain awaits them.

Ugh worried about this next load. They need me to drive straight through to deliver it. They said it will take about 12 hours at 50 mph. I can only legally drive 11 hours, plus it's the law you have to take a 30 minute break at around 8 hours. So I'm going to somehow need to make up some lost time somewhere. The guy told me I may need to play with my log book a little to make it appear legal. Seriously??? I'm gonna be exhausted as heck. So please pray for me.

I was even told in a public school sociology class that living together before marriage doesn't work.

^ Nice! Sounds like a lot of fun! Very Happy

~~~
Ha ha ha...and I thought I was tired last night? Try feeling that tired, plus only sleeping 2 hours, plus working a busy 8 hour day. I honestly feel like I'm inches away from being a zombie, atm. It's ridiculous.... Disappointed
Speaking of work...remember I posted about one night I was working with Bubblegum and Captain America and how crazily giggly/laughy I was?
Well...I've now got a reputation as being the crazy giggler.
I was working with Bubblegum and CA again the other night, being as giggly and stuff as usual, and at one point Bubblegum told me the funniest thing. She said one day she went up to the office and one of the office ladies, Angel*, asked her how I was doing. Bubblegum said I'm a hard worker and I'm easy to get along with, etc, etc...Angel was glad and then asked if I was quiet. Bubblegum hesitated for a moment, but suddenly Charlie Brown (one of the higher-up managers) walked by and said 'No, she not! She's always laughing! You can hear her whenever you pass by the deli!' Bubblegum cracked up and said it was true. Happy
That same night, Bubblegum went to go buy some things before the last register shut down for the night while CA and I were still working. As soon as she came back, she pointed at me and said 'It IS true! I could hear you giggling while I was walking up the aisle!' Laugh
Oh, and that same night, I managed to really tick off a customer....
A man and woman came up and the man ordered. He gave me one thing and I filled it out...he gave me another and I filled it out. Suddenly he gave me, like, 2-3 things and they were of different products and amounts. Now honestly, all of us in the deli constantly repeat and/or ask the customer what they want and the amount, just so we know exactly what they want and we don't screw things up. I did so for the first two items he wanted and went about doing the third one. As soon as I turned around to give him the order, he was gone and the woman was left. I gave the product to the woman and asked her what else she wanted (I had forgotten the other 2-3 things). She looked annoyed and said 'I dunno...I thought you heard him.'
Me: 'I did, but I forget what he wanted...I do remember he wanted such and such, but how much?
Woman: *irritated* 'I don't remember!'
Well...I figured maybe if I left her alone for a minute, she'd remember...so I put away my meat/cheese and fixed my slicer for the next person, then turned to her again. Now she was looking like she was going to kill.
Me: *nervous* 'Um...so do you remember what else you'd like?'
Woman: *gets angry and walks away, waving a hand at me* 'I'm not dealing with you!'
This was the first time a customer was so angry at me. I was very disheartened and was quiet for a while after. Bubblegum and CA both noticed; CA was just looking like 'whatever...' and Bubblegum was looking ticked. A while later, she came over and whispered that it was NOT my fault.
Bubblegum: 'We all know how hard it can be to remember a few items in an order...and honestly, 1, that guy shouldn't have left and 2, she was standing right next to him...SHE should've remembered the order as well.'
Ah well...I know I'd have to deal with people like that from time to time....
Oh oh...and one last thing...it seems everyone is of a mind that Subtle Sociopath and I should get together. The idea first came from the Manager and Player (when he worked here) some time ago.
Today, I saw that SS and I both had our lunch break at the same time. Pooh Bear, who was working at the cheese cutter, suddenly spoke up and asked where he (SS) would be taking me for lunch. SS didn't quite hear and I had just caught my name, so both of us asked her to repeat that again. Bubblegum, who was giggling next to Pooh Bear, spoke for her and asked the question again. I noticed SS turned kinda red, but I stammered that I had brought a lunch (which I always do...and they know it). SS finally spoke up and said he'd be in his car during lunch.
Not much was said after that, but yeah...just one of those things I had to mention. Razz
Gosh...this is a long post...feels good to just blab again. Laugh
(...and methinks I've made a few mistakes in here, but I'm too lazy to go and proof-read my post...I apologize in advance.)
This has been on my mind for the last few days, so I just want to get it off my chest. My younger cousin (whom I love dearly and think of as more of a sister) recently ended a 2 year relationship in May, and has since decided that she doesn't want a relationship for the time being. However, she has a FWB relationship with a guy since the breakup. I understand her need for companionship when she was so lonely and heartbroken...and she doesn't consider herself a Christian 'right now' so she isn't bothered by what she's doing, but she keeps going on and on about it, making me feel a little uncomfortable.
Then, at my sister's baby shower, a lot of the women my age in my family were talking about how important it is to live together first before getting married. My sister even went so far as to say that she would not let her daughter get married until she had lived with her boyfriend first (I'm not too sure how serious she was on that though). It was a little weird hearing all of this from my family members, when I don't usually have these kinds of conversations with them. And then being around them makes me feel like maybe I'm doing this whole dating thing "wrong." Just my feeling from the past few days of hanging around these ladies.
Disclaimer: This post is not meant to encourage premarital sex, just a general observation.
Of course its uncomfortable to listen to such things. The people who follow Christ are a new Creation, they are unlike the world. I would be more concerned about you if you listen to all this is Didn't feel uncomfortable.
The truth of the matter is that Sex before or after marriage does absolutely nothing in terms of longevity of a marriage. It's an absolutely asinine notion to say "well sex before marriage or living with someone before marriage is so important". The success of failure of a marriage depends 100% on how much the two people involved are willing to fight for it.
Most people who's concern's are sex before marriage as being very important are unlikely to be committed to the same person for 30 or 40 years. Cause lets be honest, sex with the same person for that long gets old, people get old and most importantly people change. We as human beings grow and evolve in our lives and if compatibility at age 25 is your reason for getting married. Then at age 35 you are prob in for a really nasty surprise.
The principle runs through all life from top to bottom. Give up yourself, and you will find your real self. Lose your life and you will save it.
Submit to death, death of your ambitions and favourite wishes every day and death of your whole body in the end: submit with every fibre of your being, and you will find eternal life.
Keep back nothing. Nothing that you have not given away will ever be really yours.
Nothing in you that has not died will ever be raised from the dead. Look for yourself, and you will find in the long run only hatred, loneliness, despair, rage, ruin, and decay.
But look for Christ and you will find Him, and with Him everything else thrown in.
-Clive Staples Lewis
I wish this was on a poster, so I could put it up and see it every day.
True, I also wanted to add that sex is easy very easy to get. Looking at the people on this forum, I highly highly doubt anyone here would have trouble finding a partner just to have sex with. But sex cannot buy happiness, if it could prostitutes would be the happiest people in this world.
Also the FWB thing is a joke. As human beings we are design to a point where we care about people, we develop feelings and emotions. There is no such thing as sex without consequences. Someone always ends up getting attached when such arrangements happen. Its not like the movies where both people get attached and fall in love eventually. In real life most of the time one person gets attached and the other dosnt. Eventually leading to a lot of heartache.
