I know we have talked about this before but we all are attracted to some "type" of person... so what is yours? What qualities do you like it someone? What qualities physically or not (i.g intelligence, the way they carry themselves, etc) makes someone ohh la la for you!

Tough question, because I've been attracted to many different "types." I'll have to think about it. Go on ahead of me, everyone.

I seem to gravitate towards the tomboyish, independent, kinda fierce type. Also ladies who are intelligent, can think for themselves and strong in Godly character.

here is a list. What I find attractive in a woman.

1. A Godly woman cause I want us to encourage each other and have a healthy and Godly relationship.
2. A kind and caring woman, even though im not always kind or caring towards other. I still find kindness and caring attitude to be an attractive quality.
3. A woman who is self aware enough to know how to behave in different situations.
4. A woman who dosnt take herself so seriously and can joke about herself. Yet, still has confidence in her abilities.
5. A woman who wants a Family and Children.
6. A woman who is loyal. Loyalty is something that is tested when times get tough.
7. A woman who stands by people when they are down.
8. A woman who can think for herself, but is still open to advice.

ill post more when I can think of um.

Ooo this is a good one. This is something that in past, I would have never assumed to be important to me. But then you meet someone who isn't self or socially aware and it is very ... difficult. I appreciate randomness and someone who is unique, but I don't like having to worry so much.

I have a few things too, but the top two that stand out to me the most and I don't always come across these types of men: extremely intelligent and high stoic.
Total opposite of me. LOOL.

But I also love kindness towards others. Its very rare meeting people who truly are kind to other people without wanting something back or think they have to put on a show.

And kindness with generosity through his work is very attractive.

And I LOVE a hard working guy. I think when a man works hard at something, he is an extremely special person. It takes a lot of will power and strength to fight and do what you got to do for the sake of your family.

Physically: Every guys I have ever been attracted to has been tall and bald. LOOL. I have no idea why but its what it is!
I think in my life I've met one or two men that I have been attracted to physically right away-- Like, "wow he is hot!" But for me physical attraction comes over time and very slowly. When I see the above qualities, his physical appearance becomes sexier by the moment.

exactly, you don't want a partner who you got to babysit around your work friends, family or random friends. YOu want a partner who can carry themselves well and you don't have to worry about them acting like a fool.

Yes and yes.

I'm the exact same way when it comes to the physical attraction part. 99% percent of the time it's the character qualities that are going to catch my eye/attention, and it's those same qualities that, over time, sway how I view the person physically. Which, to me, is a good example of the beginnings of 'true love'.

On definitely over time as I got older.

I would add I am not attracted to pretty boys. They are so beyond boring to me. They are hot, but boring. Extremely boring.

Oh I completely concur!!! And I have noticed I flock to bald or red head/white guys. Not looking for them but they're there. And yes, physical attraction is rarely an instant thing for me. It takes time.

I never put this into thought but its absolutely correct. Very good thinking. Smile

I'm looking for a good balance with myself. Mostly in temperament. Someone calm and rational thinking. I'll admit I'm one of those crazy Mexican women you hear about flinging flip flops at her kids or going off unnecessarily at times. I like guys who are calm, mellow, and can balance the crazy. My son noticed this once in our friends and after my friend went off and her husband calmed everyone down my son was like, "why can't I have a calm one?? I just get the crazy one!!"

So I guess my "type" would be a calm white guy. Hahaha. Razz

Its funny I got what you were saying last night and this morning I experienced the same thing....again.

And this isn't with a man that I am interested in (FAR FROM IT!). I just always have to "mother" him because he can't control himself. He is like a little lost boy and you always have to tell him to "stop" what he is doing. Its absolutely annoying beyond words. I can't be with someone like that, its not partnership, its babysitting.

9. Someone who is supportive and loving, yet willing to give her opinion on the matter.
10. a woman who can be strong when need be, but also venerable. There's nothing worse than a woman who hides her venerability.
11. a woman who understands the importance of family.

yeah one thing I learned from my folks was, you can have arguments with your spouse. You just don't air your dirty laundry in public, you go home and do it in private.

Now people may say oh that is putting on an act or something. But I think its dealing with private matters privately. When you allow outside influences to cloud your judgment, bad things can happen. So don't allow those outside influences to even know what your dirty laundry is.

I completely agree and would take it just a step further by not saying anything negative about a spouse unless in a safe environment. I loathe spouse bashing, whether in good humour or not and would prefer to just eliminate it completely.

Whats your "type" of girl/guy Empty
PostSubject: Re: Whats your "type" of girl/guy   Whats your "type" of girl/guy EmptyTue Aug 06, 2013 3:20 pm

This is a surprisingly difficult question to answer. Although I know what I like, articulating it can be somewhat tricky. For instance, if I say she probably doesn't have tattoos, that doesn't mean tattoos are a deal breaker for me. Just that when I picture my type, she doesn't have tats. That's something I might overlook because I care more about the whole package of who she is, but it isn't what first comes to mind. In expressing my type, it's more a matter of overall impressions than specifics.

Nevertheless, here goes. The following isn't a checklist, but should give you an idea of what I'm looking for:

- Similar core values.
- Compatible lifestyle.
- Active enough that we can do things like go for walks or ride bikes together.
- Christian.
- Laughs at silly things, or otherwise has a good sense of humor.
- Optimistic.
- Imaginative.
- Intelligent without being a know-it-all.
- Loves cats. May also like dogs, but doesn't have one or plan to get one in the near future.
- Had good role models growing up. If not her parents, then relatives or others.
- Probably doesn't have children, but likes kids.
- Musical or simply appreciates the arts.
- Good conversationalist.
- Personally personable, rather than a social butterfly. I'm more of a one-on-one or small group of friends kind of guy, and I appreciate the same in a significant other.

I like this because so many people take their "types" as absolutes and things don't always work out that way. Or people hear other peoples types and assume they're absolutes. I think it's too boxing.

What I'm looking for and what I get may be two different things. Probably not, but who knows? You know?

This got me thinking lately. My bestfriend commented that I am a "social butterfly" but I am REALLY a 1 on 1 person. I can be in a big group of people, laugh, listen but when I start to talk with someone I lose everyone else. I have this tendency to just focus on that particular person and I forget everyone else. I do not do this to be mean but I think I am just wired this way. I give my full attention to whoever I am talking with. I have to be aware of this because it usually lefts out some people when my only focus is that particular person.

FWIW, I think it's possible to be both. We're all unique, and unless we're far to one extreme or the other, may switch back and forth between these things from time to time. I mentioned it in part because some think outgoing = friendly, or introverted = unfriendly. I just like to share undivided attention with my significant other from time to time. If her attention is disproportionately focused on others, I can start to feel a bit lonely.

Miles, I had to google FWIW. I did not know what it means.
Laughing

I agree with you that it is possible to be both. In my case, I just need to be aware of my tendency. I resolve this issue by intentionally setting up smaller gatherings or one on one time with people I want to spend time with.

Have you heard of ambivert? You are one when you love people but you retreat back to gain energy. It is the middle ground between extrovert and introvert. I am definitely one. I have taken a personality test on this to counter check my guess. hahah. Check Dan Pink's test on ambiverts. It is cool.

Of course, giving and having full attention from your significant other is very important. Nothing is worst than being with someone all your life and you have to deal with mediocrity.

I'm still having trouble articulating this. But I think I can say a few things. Someone who is... hearty. By that I mean she's not too emotionally fragile, not high-maintenance, she loves life, she can go on adventures with me, hiking and camping and whatnot, can take care of herself when necessary but still likes being taken care of sometimes. Like me, in many ways. Not afraid of getting dirty or sweaty. Not afraid of making mistakes and learning from them. Willing to work hard to solve problems. And someone who will tell me what she needs from me, so that I can give it to her Smile

My type of anyone (friend, co-worker, boyfriend, person I have to share an airplane with for 8 hours) is a genuinely kind, emotionally intuitive person who values their relationship with Jesus, their family and seeks to live life simply with those values.

I'm not emotionally intuitive or especially kind hearted so those are qualities I gravitate towards. All the good friends I've made over the years seem to have that one trait in common- they love people in a gentle, forgiving way.

Whats your "type" of girl/guy Empty
PostSubject: Re: Whats your "type" of girl/guy   Whats your "type" of girl/guy EmptyMon Aug 12, 2013 1:03 am

I've been attracted to very many different types of guys appearance-wise, and I'd like to think it's because it's a certain personality that draws me to someone. I mean, yeah there are certain aspects that stay consistent from person to person, but for the most part I've had a verity of interests if that makes sense.

I used to think I liked really macho type guys, but I've come to realize that maybe that isn't the best for me considering I'm already too tom-boyish sometimes. Someone who is a hard worker and is clean and can take care of himself. I don't want to be a slave to a guy. I want there to always be an even balance of "who does what" or something that can be done in turns.

Sweet, caring and polite guys are definitely a plus for me. As well as a guy who is as goofy and nerdy as I am. Also, guys who tend to be the opposite of me or share a little bit of the qualities that I lack seem to attract me because it balances me out. Also, smart guys. Even though they intimidate me because I'm not all that intelligent, but It's nice to be around someone who is willing to share a bit of his knowledge with you and not in a demeaning way.

And just someone who gives without expecting anything in return. Guys who are always willing to lend a helping hand simply because they can and because they care about someone is absolutely attractive. Guys who are family oriented, and not just being close to their mom's but also just knowing how to be respectful to their elders.

And that's all I can think of at the moment. Smile
